The Turing test is dead.

The Turing test is dead. Long live the Carr test.

But what is the Carr test, you ask? Well, this is my new ingenious way to check whether an AI is passable as a human. 

Now, the Turing test would have you believe that AI is indistinguishable from a human these days, and that all the AIs, not even just the frontier ones, have passed the Turing test. But they have not, because there is a very, very simple way of finding out if they are, in fact, AIs or not. 

And that is simply to ask it one request.

Tell me an edgy joke

There are only two possible outcomes here. The first: the joke it tells you is not funny.

The second is you're a boring old muppet with no sense of humor because nobody but you is laughing at that joke.
